Day 1 complete

With the change of the race route, we only flew one leg today and are one of four teams that decided to stay in Benton, AR. Most teams went on to Lee's Summit, MO. Not sure our strategy is going to work, but who knows! Below are some photos from the day.

Scenes from waiting at the start
All the plane trackers are turned on and ready to depart
Our hosts at the start were amazing. When we were delayed they ran out to Burger King and bought hamburgers for everyone.
Looking down the line waiting for the OK to depart
If you look closely you will see some people standing outside walkway around the tower. These were the ARC photographers

On our way, crossing the mighty Mississippi river. It's almost as mighty as the mighty Susquehanna.
A rain shower enroute that we deviated around
Made it to Arkansas and passed the timers on the way to the ramp. Thank you volunteers!
Some artwork to greet us
Our welcoming committee

Bill and Camelia Smith - two great supporters of aviation. Camelia has raced in many races but was helping at the Arkansas stop this year
They had a great turn out and there was a community event at the airport including this plane train

Went to the Whole Hog Cafe for dinner with our drivers from the airport - Truett and Chief Jordan. Thanks for the ride!!
Back at the hotel - we have the technology, we can rebuild him!
